Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 23 September 2009
Introduction
Thank you for visiting our web site. TreatmentTrials takes your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy ("Policy") applies to the Treatment-Trials.com web site (the "Site"). It tells users ("you") about the web site, the information that TreatmentTrials collects, and how TreatmentTrials uses and shares this information.
Types of Information We Collect
TreatmentTrials collects both "personally identifiable information" and "non-personally identifiable information" from or about users of this Site.
Personally Identifiable Information
TreatmentTrials collects several types of information that may identify a particular individual ("personally identifiable information"). We collect personally identifiable information when you provide it to us through your use of the Site, such as by requesting information, filling out a questionnaire to determine whether you fit the criteria for a specific clinical trial, or signing up to express interest in a clinical trial. The types of personally identifiable information we collect include, without limitation: name, gender, physical address, telephone number, email address, and date of birth. We also collect personal health information that you voluntarily provide to us, including, without limitation: your medical condition(s), current and past prescriptions, medical test results, products or equipment used, and treatment history.
In addition, we may obtain personally identifiable information about you from third party sources and combine it with the information that you have provided to us. Such information may include additional demographic information or information about past consumer credit transactions.
Non-Personally Identifiable Information
Non-personally identifiable information is anonymous information that cannot be associated with a specific individual. The types of non-personally identifiable information that we collect (either directly, through the use of "cookies," or through the use of a third-party tracking system) include, without limitation: the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the computer making the request, your browser type and language, access times, and information about areas of the Site or links visited by you and other users of the Site. A "cookie" is a piece of information a web site sends to your computer while you are viewing the web site to remember who are you without personally identifying you. We may use this information to measure how our Site is used and to improve the content and navigation of the Site so that it is more useful to you and other visitors.
TreatmentTrials may share this non-personally identifiable information in summary form with its suppliers and other third parties for the purpose of Site statistical and trend analysis. This information is not linked to any personally identifiable information that can identify an individual person.
How We Use Personally Identifiable Information
We use the personally identifiable information you provide to us through this Site in order to assist with your application for a clinical trial(s) that you wish to participate in. We also assist with the data collection process related to determining eligibility for participation in such clinical trial(s). Although TreatmentTrials does not conduct or otherwise determine eligibility for any clinical trial, TreatmentTrials will provide you with information about those trials, allow for application to such trials, and match the information you provide to the Site to trials with corresponding criteria. In addition, TreatmentTrials may use your personally identifiable information to deliver any information or services you have requested; provide you with technical support; verify or review your registration information; communicate with you about products, information, or services that may be of interest to you from us, our marketing partners, or other third parties; display advertising tailored to your interests or background; perform data and statistical analysis on use of the Site; enforce our terms and conditions; and perform any other functions otherwise described to you at the time we collect the information.
Sharing Your Personally Identifiable Information
The personally identifiable information that you submit to us, including your personal medical information, will be shared with companies that sponsor clinical trials as well as the entities or individuals that administer, organize, or conduct such clinical trials. TreatmentTrials may store the information collected for a clinical trial. But, TreatmentTrials' primary role is to facilitate the submission of personally identifiable information, which is required for a clinical trial, directly to the companies that sponsor clinical trials as well as the entities or individuals that administer, organize, or conduct such clinical trials. Information provided to TreatmentTrials for any particular clinical trial is sent only to the sponsor or entities or individuals that administer, organize, or conduct such clinical trial. Please note, however, that any third parties with whom we share personally identifiable information, including clinical trial sponsors and organizers, may have their own policies which describe how they use and disclose your information. Those policies will govern the use, handling, and disclosure of your information once we have transferred or shared it with those third parties as described in this Policy.
TreatmentTrials will disclose your personally identifiable information in response to a subpoena or similar investigative demand, a court order, or a request for cooperation from a law enforcement or other government agency; to establish or exercise our legal rights; to defend against legal claims; or as otherwise required by law. We will also disclose your personally identifiable information when we believe disclosure is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activity, suspected fraud or other wrongdoing; to protect and defend the rights, property, or safety of our company, our employees, our Site users, or others; or to enforce our website terms and conditions or other agreements or policies.
In addition, in the event that all or substantially all of the stock and/or assets of TreatmentTrials are transferred or sold to another entity, TreatmentTrials may transfer personally identifiable information to the acquiring entity.
Third Party Information Collection and Web Site Links
We may allow third parties, including advertising partners, to display advertisements on our Site. These companies may use tracking technologies, including "cookies", to collect information about users of our Site who view or interact with these advertisements.
Throughout our Site, we may provide links or automatically redirect you to third party web sites that do not operate under this Policy. For example, if you click on an advertisement presented on our Site, you may be taken to a web site that TreatmentTrials does not operate or control. These third party web sites may independently solicit and collect information from you. We are not responsible for the policies and practices of these third parties, and we do not monitor or control the information they collect when you access or use their web sites. Since their treatment of personally identifiable information may differ from ours, we encourage you to review the privacy statements and terms of use of all third party web sites you access. On occasion, these third party web sites may provide us with information about your use of their sites.
Changes
From time to time, we may modify or supplement this Policy. Changes to this Policy will be posted on the TreatmentTrials Site and we will revise the "effective date" at the top of this policy. We encourage you to check this Site regularly for updated information.
Children's Privacy
Our Site is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. However, if we obtain actual knowledge that we have collected or maintained personal information from a child under the age of 13, we will immediately delete that information from our records so that it is not in retrievable form. In addition, if the parent or guardian of a child under 13 believes that the child has provided us with personal information, the parent or guardian of that child should contact us so that we may delete the information from our files.
Security
TreatmentTrials has put in place reasonable security measures to help protect against unauthorized access or use of the information we collect online. However, no system can be completely secure. Although we take steps to protect your information, we do not guarantee the security of personal information, searches, or other communications transmitted to and from this Site. Moreover, we cannot be responsible for modifying or deleting information that you provided to us that has already been shared with third parties, such as clinical trial sponsors and organizers. You should contact these third parties directly if you wish to request that they modify or delete your information.
